The Orchard House Home School blog is named after the long time home of the Alcotts and where Louisa May Alcott wrote “Little Women.” Her father, Amos Bronson Alcott, founded a school in Boston that treated children as fully intelligent beings worthy of respect and affection rather than as discipline problems. He believed that children should be taught through questioning and writing about personal experiences rather than lecturing and rote work.

This blog will chronicle my educational journey home schooling my 10-year-old son.
